Fury Vamp Visual Deck list
I have a couple recommendations. I was planning on building a standard Vampire deck just for fun. I'll post up later. I would up the count on your Marsh Flats to 4. It will thin out your deck as well as trigger the "Landfall" ability more. But I put in 4 of these guys. ![]() Also, to help drop down their life total. These would help. ![]() |

Yeah i might switch them in for the hexmage to speed things up. I'm not too big of the lands coming into play tapped just to get one damage however.
As far as the fetch lands I'm not too entirely sure why some of the mono black decks ive seen have 8 (4 for each swamp pull). The only land fall ability in this deck is Bloodghast. However, im thinking it also doubles to trigger the Vampire Nocturnus ability. If you see a land on top you can fetch to shuffle your library and get the +2/+1 flying. And im assuming if you have 2 out there it stacks and all vampires get it twice over? Also, i only own 4 of the fetch lands for swamps and dont want to get too invested at the moment cash wise. Im gonna have to pony up a few bucks for the 4x Nocturnus. However i have a bunch good cards i can probably just trade away. Chandra, Nissa, 2 other fetches, 4 of the mythic Kalitas. That should get me somewhere. |

Ill probably add the Lacerator to my sideboard. That should help against slow controlling decks. Did some more reading and it seems that i should take out the Monument. If you draw it on your opening hand its pretty much a dead card. Id need a bloodghast to bring out its fullest effect since that what ill sac and put right back in with landfall.

It seems like the Mind Sludge is completely out of place in this deck. I understand it's very "opponent discards entire hand secures win"-ish. But there has to be something better than that. It also seems 2 would hardly be effective to achieve that. Any deck that relies on having THAT much cards in hand THAT late in the game shouldn't be letting this spell resolve.
If anything I would take out the artifact and those 2 to speed this up with those Lacerator guys. Maybe even take out 1 of those Bloodwitches. It should be game when you drop that bitch anyhow. The Sign in Bloods will speed things up (for standard speeds) and also get those cheap ass kills that haters love to hate. |

They are playing 8 fetch lands because they nor the swamps come into play tapped. In a black weenie deck with draw spells that lose life that is key. It really has nothing to do with the Landfall for the Bloodghasts. You'll probably get those back with the main phase swamp drop anyhow. If anything I would take out the Nocturnus because it is slowing you down. At least go down to maybe 1. There has got to be another low casting cost vampire that can replace him in addition to the Lacerator. If not I would say another draw spell. Viscera Dragger (still standard?) even though not a vampire would fit well in this deck. Cycle him, then Unearth him for the kill later in the game.
Guul Draz Vampire Blood Seeker At least consider those guys. Also if you could find a way to discard the Bloodghasts so you didn't have to actually cast them that would be choice. Sorry if I seem a little verbose. I do this with Phil all day every day lol |

George, actually after looking at what the Standard Meta is... Tim's original list is pretty solid... sorry out of touch with the Standard Format since I only play Singleton and Classic formats.
5 color control is pretty dominate as well as Jund Decks (R,B,G). Which means the format is slightly slower and wins are depending more and more on huge beefy creatures to win. So Mind Sludge is needed pretty badly. I have never been a big fan of that card. Though I have lost plenty of games from it. The big bad boy in the meta is Baneslayer Angel and Broodmate Dragon. So now I can see why Tendrils is needed... Linked below is my take on it... I might start playing standard soon.. not sure. Can't seem to get myself to play mono colored decks as of late. Vamps <- Visual List 4 Bloodghast 4 Vampire Lacerator 4 Gatekeeper of Malakir 2 Malakir Bloodwitch 3 Vampire Hexmage 3 Vampire Nighthawk 3 Vampire Nocturnus 2 Mind Sludge 4 Tendrils of Corruption 2 Disfigure 4 Sign in Blood 1 Sorin Markov 4 Marsh Flats 16 Swamp 4 Verdant Catacombs Side Board 4 Duress 2 Mind Sludge 4 Deathmark 2 Disfigure 1 Vampire Hexmage 1 Malakir Bloodwitch Well.. Concerning the Fetch Lands (March Flats and Verdant Catacombs) if you can thin out your deck and draw more gas all the better. I pretty much live and die by my top decks haha... nothing is worse than drawing a Plains when all you needed was something else. Also keep in mind that it has great synergy with Vampire Nocturnus. If you dont happen to have a black card on top of your deck.... just pop off the fetch land to see if you can improve your chances. Getting the Fetch Lands are imo priority #1. I don't think that Vampire Nocturnus should be a 4 of... since I don't like the idea of having 2 of those in my opening hand. Hexmage is amazing way to kill Planeswalkers. Something that Black never so efficiently had in the past. |

Wow, it just occured to me hexmage wipes planeswalkers. I know with a sac it takes counters off but im thinking about all these allies that get counters. Never crossed my mind about loyalty counters.
Also, Bloodwitch has protection from white which will help me deal with the baneslayer madness. These are some great suggestions, feel free to rip the deck apart and make it even better. |
